    I mean, no.

You can’t make someone a pedophile any more than you can make someone prefer blondes or grannies. It’s an attraction that can’t be helped or influenced. You don’t just become a pedophile.

“Fake child porn” isn’t even a thing. Child porn is illegal, mainly, because it is inherently abuse. Which is why it has been “rebranded” to child sexual abuse material or “CSAM”. Adults that look young is in no way child porn, and to brand it as such is to stigmatize people for how they look.

I mostly agree with you, and that’s why I think it’s disgusting that the users of ! [email protected] are calling the women they’re posting fauxbait. It’s degrading to the women to market their porn as faux child porn.

Also I’m pretty sure Epstein talked a whole lot of rich people into becoming pedophiles. And Stephen Hawking, allegedly.

Kindly I disagree. It was very helpful to find stuff that wasn’t what I already knew I wanted especially as I came from Reddit as one of the earlier refugees after the API thing.

Given how small and in development Lemmy has been, it was a good thing to keep showing me that I made a good choice and that this federated thing ISNT Reddit and has its own value to give if I can just get a little bit of help find finding stuff.

Now it’s been sometime but I think on by default is still a good thing. I’m also okay with making it super super easy to turn off and be reminded/prompted to do that as well.

If it’s no longer a needed thing I might be convinced that the on by default state has passed the value I found in it, but I am not ready put the effort into that at this time.

I definitely understand your reasonings for that. And I do agree having it default on does help raise awareness of communities.

My main reason that I’m against a default on is I’m always strongly against any type of action that does something on the behalf of someone else without it properly being relayed.

if the person who made the community wanted to advertise their community, they could reach out and send a message on their own, or they could turn it on, but having it default on creates cases like this, Where they weren’t even aware that it was making a post, it seems, until people started messaging them complaining about the amount of spam.

Making porn doesn’t reduce demand for porn, it increases it. The community will likely make more pedophiles

Studies show playing video games raises short term aggression. But we have no hard data on the long term causative relationship between video games and violence, because it’s very difficult to cause patients to play video games for many years. I sure hope people are learning some of their moral values around violence from video games. I hope Wolfenstein makes people more violent towards neo-Nazis. I hope Horizon makes people more violent towards tech CEOs. I hope Subnautica makes people want to protect nature.

Now I’m going to cite Humm et al., (2020)'s insights into the psychology of first-time CSAM offenders. Most first-time CSAM offenders are unaware that what they’re doing is a crime, and they have doubts about the harmfulness of what they’re doing. In other words, they’re exactly the kind of people who tend to use the fauxbait community, and in fact they have a lot in common with people in this thread such as yourself.

Nonetheless, as a factor motivating onset, such exposure, or ‘opportunity’, is thought to have a ‘greater impact’ on an individual’s likelihood of viewing CEM than pathological motivations or drivers such as overpowering sexual urges

In other words, if you see this kind of porn by accident and you don’t think it’s that bad, you’re more likely to go on to become an online-only child sex offender.

That’s gonna be an instance block from me dawg.

Unless it’s a community dedicated to ousting and publicly shaming them, there should never ever be pedo comms. If the instance admins don’t/haven’t banned it and its active users, they’re complicit and should also be shamed.

Grail is a known contrarian, that is their whole shtick: being strange and contrarian.

Have to agree with Grail for once. Those fuckers don’t deserve any porn at all, fuck them and their “needs”.

From a sex workers standpoint how fucked up is it to be told YOUR adult body is so obscene no one should ever desire to see it.

If all the pedos want to congregate I believe it just makes it easier to track those fuckers, otherwise I feel that particular space is uncomfortable and just avoid it but I think it’s incredibly fucked up to tell any adult they aren’t a sexual creature like everyone else and that they should be ashamed.

I do hope it is monitored closely though, slippery slope as it is

I mean, I get people’s disgust with it. It’s not just small women, it’s small women whose hair, make-up, and clothing is chosen with the purpose of making them look like children. I personally find the content gross, so I don’t consume it.

But the people making it are consenting adults, and that’s all that should matter to the decision of whether it’s banned or not.

I definitely think you are misinterpreting the community. It’s not my favorite community on the site but it doesn’t break any rules, everyone posted id 18+ and it a post is even remotely questionable it’s removed.
